TCM Perspective on Diabetes and Dietary Management

Understanding Diabetes from a TCM Perspective
Most people are familiar with the recommended targets for diabetes management:
- Fasting Blood Glucose: 4.0–7.0 mmol/L
- 2-Hour Postprandial Blood Glucose: 5.0–10.0 mmol/L
- HbA1c (Glycated Haemoglobin): Below 7%
However, many individuals achieve good blood glucose control yet continue to experience a variety of symptoms, such as:
- Dry eyes
- Bitter taste in the mouth and dry throat
- Poor appetite
- Bloating and acid reflux
- Loose stools
- Coldness or numbness of the hands and feet
- Dry, itchy skin
- Poor sleep quality
- Low mood or emotional distress
Health is more than just numbers; it is also about how you feel.
While maintaining good blood glucose control is essential, equal attention should be paid to a patient's overall physical and emotional well-being.
Can you eat well? Sleep soundly? Feel energetic and emotionally balanced?
Traditional Chinese Medicine believes that treatment should begin by regulating the Shen (Mind and Spirit). Rather than treating only the disease itself, TCM focuses on treating the whole person.
Herbal Tea Recommendations for Diabetes Support
The following herbal tea combinations may help support both blood glucose management and overall health.
Please note: Different body constitutions require different herbal prescriptions. These recommendations should only be taken after consultation with a qualified TCM Physician.

Important Reminder
Each person's body constitution is unique, and the most appropriate herbal tea or treatment should be determined through individual TCM syndrome differentiation.
For safety and optimal therapeutic benefit, always consult a qualified Traditional Chinese Medicine Physician before beginning any herbal regimen.
